settlements

the farmstead

This is the first settlement to be completed on Tryon Farm. Houses and lofts are associated with the existing farm homestead and surrounded by prairie, wetlands, forests and farm fields. Cars are contained in European-style red gravel courtyards ringed by enclosed garages. There are cultivated gardens in walled enclosure.

Built in scale and using materials that respect the existing farmhouse and its grounds this settlement becomes a visual link with the rest of the farm.
