Tryon Farm is already home to many different kinds of people. There is a wide range of ages, interests and backgrounds. Some owners are weekenders, others are full-time residents. The common bond between is love of the land. People at Tryon care about open space, wise use of resources, preservation and restoration of wetlands and prairie and the simple joys of being in this natural setting.

A variety of Farm activities are available for those who wish to participate. There are planning and planting the vegetable garden, helping with the feeding of goats and chickens, splitting wood for winter fires, and bonfire circle suppers. A community e-mail newsletter keeps all posted on the good things happening at the Farm and at the nearby Dunes Parks and beach and harbor.

Tryon sponsors workshops on conservation and planning. These bring experts (and novices) from Indiana, Illinois and Michigan to work together on ways to save our countryside and cities.

We have events throughout the year including craft workshops, bicycle repair sessions, advice and counsel on organic gardening and landscaping, and old time movies shown in the Tryon Farm dairy barn. Fishing, boating, swimming, birdwatching, hiking and cycling are just a few of the activities at Tryon or nearby.

The old farmhouse was converted into the Tryon Farm Guest House bed and breakfast and provides the ideal overflow quarters for visiting guests. The barn continues to be a center for projects, potluck suppers, discussions and association meetings.
